Dr. Nourhan Ashraf

Founder & Clinical Director
Aesthetic, Restorative & Rehabilitation
Dentistry Consultant
MIU Class of 2009

Dr. Nourhan Ashraf is the Founder and Clinical Director of Dentina and one of the early advocates of modern minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry in Egypt.
At the heart of Dentina is a philosophy built around intention, detail, and natural beauty. Founded by Dr. Nourhan Ashraf, Dentina was created to offer a different approach to modern dentistry — one that combines clinical precision with an artistic understanding of facial harmony, comfort, and individuality.
A graduate of Misr International University (MIU), Dr. Nourhan completed a clinical attachment at the prestigious Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital in Dresden, Germany, where she first developed her passion for cosmetic dentistry at a time when the field was still in its infancy across much of the region.
She returned to Egypt and began her Master’s studies in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry in 2012 before founding Dentina in 2013 with a vision of creating a different kind of dental practice—one built around ethics, education, aesthetics, and long-term patient wellbeing.

Today, her work focuses on advanced smile design, minimally invasive dentistry, full-mouth rehabilitation, and digital treatment planning, while continuing to shape the next generation of dentists through education, mentorship, and clinical training.

Contributions to Dentistry

Throughout the early years of aesthetic dentistry in Egypt, Dr. Nourhan became widely known for her commitment to conservative treatment approaches and evidence-based smile design.

For nearly eight years, she was among the leading clinicians promoting properly planned prepless and minimally invasive veneer techniques at a time when treatment philosophies were heavily polarized. Her approach emphasized careful diagnosis, facial analysis, case selection, and preservation of natural tooth structure long before these principles became widely adopted.

Driven by a passion for education, she founded the Mastering Aesthetic Dentistry Program, one of the first comprehensive educational pathways designed to bring together the clinical, artistic, and planning principles required for modern aesthetic dentistry.

In 2016, she also founded the Smile Designers Award, a regional competition that encouraged dental students, universities, and private practitioners to elevate the quality of case documentation and treatment presentation.

Many of the documentation standards and comprehensive case requirements promoted through these initiatives later became incorporated into internship case presentation requirements across Egyptian dental schools.

Personal Philosophy

For Dr. Nourhan, dentistry is never about creating identical smiles.

She believes every treatment should begin with understanding the individual behind it—their personality, facial features, lifestyle, goals, and long-term wellbeing.

Her philosophy combines aesthetics, function, psychology, and communication to create results that feel authentic rather than artificial. She is a strong advocate of conservative dentistry and believes the best cosmetic treatment is often the one that preserves the most while achieving the greatest impact.

Through Dentina, she continues to pursue a vision of dentistry that is thoughtful, ethical, educational, and deeply personal.

The most beautiful smiles are not the ones that look the same—they are the ones that look like they always belonged to the person wearing them.”
